The
Journey Has Just Begun: Seal Your Ties of Brotherhood
Since
it has been at least ten months since you became an Ordeal member, you
are eligible to seal your membership in the Order by embarking upon the
Brotherhood Trail. At any Lodge weekend event, such as the Spring Pow-Wow,
Fall Fellowship, and our three Ordeals. The Brotherhood Trail will be
open for you to gain further knowledge of our Order. Let me encourage
you to take the Brotherhood Trail at our next lodge event. There is NO
fee for the Brotherhood Trail other then pre-registering for the weekend.
You will receive a free new Brotherhood OA Sash, a $15.00 value, at the
Brotherhood Ceremony.
The requirements
to set out upon the Brotherhood Trail are these:
1.
You must have been active in the OA Lodge for a period of at least ten
months after obtaining your Ordeal membership and be a current dues
paid OA member. Since you are receiving this letter, we believe that
you meet these requirements. OA membership dues are only good for each
calendar year, January 1st until December 31st.
2.
You should learn the Obligation, Admonition, and Song of our Order.
The song and obligation are in the OA Handbook and the Lodge Plan Book.
The obligation is also located on the back of your OA membership card.
If you wish to know the Admonition, ask any current Brotherhood member,
look in the pronunciation guide of a ceremony script, or email me at
the below address.
3.
The Brotherhood Trail is scheduled takes place on Saturday at the Spring
Pow-Wow after lunch at approx 12:30 pm and the ceremony will take place
after the evening meal. You may sign-up for it when you check-in on
Friday night or Saturday morning. At Saturday’s breakfast and
lunch, watch for announcements about the trail. For the trail, be prepared
with water, a flashlight, and outerwear if the weather warrants it.
Also be prepared to discuss how the Order of the Arrow has influenced
your life, and be familiar with the four principles of the Ordeal Ceremonies.
If you need help with these, ask members of your chapter, or we can
go over them on Saturday.
To sign-up
for any lodge event, use the multi-event registration form, and be mindful
of the sign-up deadline. You can always check back here for updates, schedules,
and forms. You can also sign-up for email blasts for the current OA news.
