Induction Weekends

Inductions are just around the corner, are you ready? Don't miss out, register today!

The induction weekends of Egwa Tawa Dee Lodge are a great way for new and old members alike to get involved and have a good time. Chapters are always encouraged to put together ceremony teams for the pre-Ordeal, Ordeal, and Brotherhood ceremonies. Talk to your Chapter Chief or ceremony team leader if you are interested in playing a part.

Elangomats

Are you looking for a way you can better serve the Egwa Tawa Dee Lodge? Are you looking for an opportunity to earn one of the more rare awards in the Egwa Tawa Dee Lodge? Then serving as an Elangomat at any one of the 2017 Ordeals is perfect for you.

An Elangomat is a friend to candidates as they complete their Ordeal and it’s their job to ensure candidates get the full experience; learning each step along the way.

Each Chapter is required to provide enough Elangomats to cover the number of candidates they have going through the Ordeal. While they are earning their sash, you can earn the Honor Elangomat Award. This award is an 100% gold embroidered Lodge flap that can be worn on any official Boy Scout Uniform. And don't worry if you don't know how to serve as an Elangomat, as an official training is offered on the Friday night of each Ordeal by the Elangomat Chairman or his designee. Training materials are also on the Lodge website under Resources>Forms>Inductions.

Please contact the Elangomat Chairman, if you have any questions or want to volunteer. Here's an Elangomat Flier to distribute to your Chapter.

Brotherhood

Not Brotherhood yet? Has it been 10 months since your Ordeal? Great! come on out to seal your ties in our order. A Brotherhood candidate will have the opportunity to exercise his leadership skills, learn more about the Order of the Arrow, and become a better arrowman. Becoming a Brotherhood member helps one to reaffirm his or her beliefs in the Order and is intended for those who desire to continue their path in unselfish service to others. The Brotherhood membership is not a rank but a method of strengthening ones ties to the Order of the Arrow. Brotherhood membership signifies the completion of the induction process.

Brother Service at Ordeals

Brothers,

Our lodge has a long history of service to our camps and this spring at both Ordeals, Woodruff and Bert Adams, we are asking our Brothers to participate in continuing this tradition of service. At both camps we have service projects planned that are “above and beyond” the usual candidate projects. Projects include installing a Yellow river outpost, maintenance and repair around camp, and even painting. Anyone who has ever seen candidates paint know why we are asking for Brothers to step up for this important step in preparing for summer camp. These projects all share a requirement for skills and abilities that generally exceed those of the typical Ordeal clan.

We are also looking for adult project managers to supervise Ordeal projects. These project managers’ primary responsibility will be to coordinate with the Elangomats to insure that assigned clan projects are completed to the Ranger’s satisfaction and any tools/equipment properly cleaned and placed for pick-up.

Brothers participating in these service projects will accrue service hours that will count towards the “Service to Scouting” requirement of the 2017 Service Hawk award along with Totem Ticket service beads. More information about the 2017 Service Hawk award can be found at http://www.aacegwa.org/awardsandhonors.htm

The Woodruff Scout Camp Induction Weekend will be May 5-7, 2017 with a registration deadline Monday, April 24th.
